Jeffrey Kubiak

Colonel (Ret.) Jeffrey Kubiak served on active duty from 1984 to 2011.  Dr. Kubiak was a T-38 Talon instructor pilot for the 97th and 99th Training Squadron on Williams Air Force Base, Ariz.  He also piloted a B-1B Lancer for the 77th Bomb Squadron on Ellsworth AFB, S.D.  He was the commander of the 86th Flying Training Squadron, the largest undergraduate pilot training squadron in the Air Force, at Laughlin AFB, Texas.  In 2011, after more than 26 years of service, he retired.

“Being a husband and father are the most important jobs I have,” Dr. Kubiak stated.  He married his high school sweetheart and together they have three children. His youngest daughter was born during one of his favorite assignments in Ramstein Air Base, Germany, and he calls her his “best souvenir” from the three-year tour.

Dr. Kubiak has a Bachelor of Science in political science from the U.S. Air Force Academy, Master of Arts in political science from the University of Wisconsin, an M.A. in Military Operational Art and Science, as well as a doctorate in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University.  He taught joint operations at the Army Command and General Staff School and strategy at the Air Force School of Advanced Air and Space Studies and the Naval War College. His research interests include the domestic context of US foreign policy, the role of narratives in politics, and strategy.

After giving so many years of service to the Air Force, Dr. Kubiak continues to serve it in other ways.
Currently, he is an international relations assistant professor at the U.S. Army School of Advance Military Studies on Ft. Leavenworth, Kan. This program develops effective planners who help senior leaders understand the operational environment and then visualize as well as be able to describe viable solutions to operational problems.
