Henry Clay Gillam, Jr. Senior Master Sgt. (Ret). Henry Clay Gillam, Jr. of Allendale, South Carolina, enlisted in the Air Force in 1968. He served eight years on active duty as a hospital administrator before transitioning to the Air National Guard where he served until he retired in 1990. During his time in the service, he was stationed at England Air Force Base, Louisiana; Da Nang Air Base, Vietnam; Tyndall AFB, Florida.; and the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colorado. Gilliam also enjoyed a successful civilian career as the senior vice president of sales in the commercial floorcovering industry while living in Chicago. He retired from his civilian job in 2012 and is back in South Carolina where he volunteers at the Ralph H. Johnson Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Charleston, South Carolina, and serves as the post commander at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3137, Isle of Palms, South Carolina.
