Chief Master Sergeant (ret.) Carol Poynor portrait at the Enlisted Heroes Walk Lackland Air Force Base, Texas on Jan 8, 2009.  Chief Armwood's advice to new airmen who are women, "Stick it out and be proud." Poynor came into the Air Force in Aug 1958. Twice in her career she was a Training Instructor.  She returned to Lackland to be the BMT Superintendent and retired there in 1984.  She says that women of today's Air Force women, "Find out what it was like in the past and appreciate who brought them this far."  To airmen who still find it tough today, she says "Don’t let it stop you.  Have pride in your work-be proud."   Of the walk behind her, Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force Rodney McKinley  said during dedication ceremony on Jan. 2, “We dedicate this Enlisted Heroes Walk to honor our enlisted heroes who have given so much, who still inspire us today, and who will continue to inspire every Airman who will march over this hallowed ground from this day forward,”  “In the 500 steps it takes to complete the bomb run, lives will change and dreams will be realized.
