Hayes flew in 166 Combat Missions during Vietnam, after the war he retired and flew as a commercial airline pilot where he finished his career with more then 24,000 flight hours. Hayes is now the Veteran and Military Affairs Liasian from Kenny Merchant a congressional representative of Texas.
