Sabre Taylor

Senior Airman (Sep.) Sabre Taylor is a seven-year Air Force veteran who served as a combat videographer from 1993 to 2001.  During this time, she was part of the original 1st Combat Camera Squadron as the unit changed from detachments to one squadron.  Taylor described the defining moment of her Air Force career as when she went to Khobar Towers in 1996 to document the aftermath of the bombing.

“We were the first documenters in.  I remember sitting on the plane and we didn’t have desert uniforms, and then someone asked me and my partner if we had chemical suits.  We looked at each other and said ‘no.’  He said ya’ll going to die!  I was scared out of my mind, but as first responders we knew our footage was important because it would be the first time military leaders would see the destruction and lives lost.”  Taylor now runs an automotive shop with her husband in Ladson, S.C.
